Reclaimed Wooden Pine, Oak and Fir Roof Trusses

Wilsons carry a large selection of original 19th century reclaimed pine wooden roof trusses. These seasoned timber trusses give a natural ageless feel to a contemporary building, and provide an authentic feel to the roof of a period building.

We also supply Character Grade Green Oak trusses and Douglas fir trusses to achieve a seasoned natural look. Through our unique finishing process these new wood trusses take on a natural aged look and feel that compliments any period building.

New Oak King Post Truss With Carved Struts

Tudor Style Beam

Reception with Large King Post Trusses

Wooden Roof Trusses can be used instead of a standard “flat” ceiling to add and open airy feel to any size room. This is space that is typically just closed in and lost in most modern buildings. Our trusses can be used as load bearing or simply decorative.

Our timber roof trusses are ideal for barn conversions, cathedral ceilings and vaulted ceilings. They are very complimentary in Kitchens, Conservatories, Sun rooms and Hallways. They add a period feel to reception rooms and bedrooms.

Truss Types

All our trusses are hand crafted and bespoke so we can make then any size and shape that you need. If you are unsure of the type of truss you want, you can look at our standard types below for guidance.

Finishes

Upon arrival at Wilsons the reclaimed timber trusses are sympathetically striped and sanded to bring out their original quality. We give each beam unique and special attention to bring out its character and natural colour. We do not sand the beams back to new wood, as this would loose the natural aging that has taken place.

  1. Sanded and Hand Waxed

Our most popular Finish - A Beautiful Finish. This unique process removes outer layers of paint and finishes to reveal the original grain and colour of the wood. The beam is not sanded to a ‘smooth new’ surface but rather ‘taken back’ to the state it would have arrived at its first home. A coating of wax is then applied by hand which enhances the colour and grain of the timber.
  1. Sandblasted and Hand Waxed

This unique Finish involves removing the old layers of paint and Finish by blasting the timber with sand. Some of the softer wood between the grain lines is also worn away, resulting in a rough rustic finish which highlights the overall grain. A coating of wax is then applied by hand which further enhances the grain of the timber.

Colour

Each and every individual wood beam is unique in both character and colour, therefore it is impossible to guarantee exact colour tones. The samples presented below are offered as guidelines.
  1. Natural – Original colour of antique timber with clear wax Finish
  2. Medium – Waxed to tone down the original colour.
  3. Dark – Stained to give a medieval darker look
